Smith Cove
Travel to the southwest section of the tropical island paradise to Smith Cove, a spot that’s as perfect for swimming as it is snorkeling. It’s a relatively private beach in part because buses don’t visit the area often; however, if you take a rental car you’ll enjoy peace and quiet for as long as you like. Snorkeling equals visions of hundreds of colorful fish, and that’s in addition to the creatures along the shoreline tidal pools. Governors Beach
Named for the Governor’s House, Governors Beach provides another quiet option with excellent snorkeling. Swimming out to the reef takes little effort, with the beach is also within walking distance to Margaritaville. Seven Mile Beach
Seven Mile Beach is perhaps the most well-known of Grand Cayman’s sandy destinations, and one that features a lively population of tourists and locals regardless of the time of year. There’s swimming, diving, snorkeling, parasailing, paddleboarding, wet bike, and canoeing options at this beach located close to the Westin. And despite its immense popularity, the beach is clean and well-maintained.
Cemetery Beach and Reef
If snorkeling is your thing, you can’t pass up a visit to Cemetery Beach and Reef. It’s teeming with wildlife including peacock flounder, lobsters, pufferfish, scorpionfish, parrotfish, and wrasses among others in calm, crystal-clear waters. Sea grape trees provide ample shade from the tropical sun at this slice of white sand heaven.
Spotts Beach
Like the other beaches on this list, Spotts Beach offers fantastic snorkeling opportunities. Yet, it includes one of the bigger marine mammals that’s always exciting to catch glimpses of- the sea turtle. If you spend about 15 minutes snorkeling above seagrass, you’ll be guaranteed to see the gentle creatures. Keep in mind the currents can be strong here!
